FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
The Centre for Women receives a $60,000 grant from Truist Foundation to help female entrepreneurs launch and grow successful businesses.
(Tampa, FL, June 1, 2023) - The Centre for Women is thrilled to announce that Truist Foundation has provided a $60,000 grant to support The Tampa Bay Women’s Business Centre (WBC).
“This funding will significantly enhance our ability to empower and assist female entrepreneurs in launching and expanding successful businesses in the Tampa Bay community,” said Ann W. Madsen, executive director of The Centre for Women and founder of the Tampa Bay WBC. As a leading provider of technical assistance and business education, The Tampa Bay WBC has been instrumental in supporting women-owned and minority-owned small businesses since its establishment in 2013. Over the years, we have witnessed a growing demand for our services, particularly with underserved communities. Truist Foundation’s grant will play a vital role in enabling us to fulfill this increasing need by allocating funds towards our bilingual coaching and educational programs.
“This investment will provide women- and minority-owned businesses with access to new business training that can be used to inspire and build better lives and communities,” said Iwan Mohamed, West Florida regional president for Truist. “Our partnership with The Tampa Bay Women’s Business Centre (WBC) will support entrepreneurs and help unlock new opportunities for growth in communities across Tampa and the state of Florida.”
One of the cornerstones of the Tampa Bay WBC is our commitment to providing free business coaching to entrepreneurs residing in Hillsborough, Hernando, Pasco, Polk, Pinellas, and Manatee counties. Additionally, we offer an array of complimentary resources such as free business educational webinars, mastermind groups, networking opportunities and access to financial and educational tools. As an esteemed resources partner of the Small Business Administration (SBA), we are proud to serve our clients in both English and Spanish.
Dr. Kerry Szymanski, director of the Tampa Bay WBC, expressed her excitement about the Truist Foundation grant, stating, “This significant grant from Truist Foundation will enable us to expand our support for female entrepreneurs in the Tampa Bay community. With the combined power of resources, knowledge, and community partnerships, we are confident that we can make a lasting impact on the success and growth of businesses led by women.
The Centre for Women is deeply grateful to Truist Foundation for their investment in our mission and their recognition of the vital role female entrepreneurs play in driving economic prosperity. We look forward to leveraging this grant to serve more than 1,000 women to achieve their business aspirations and contribute to the thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem of Tampa Bay.”
